Another great resource for teaching reading strategies is The Reading Strategies Book written by Jennifer Serravallo. She is also written some other fantastic books to help with assessment and small group instruction.
If you need some great ideas for teaching students to have a "robust vocabulary", then there are two resources I would highly recommend: These texts discuss the steps that should be taken to help students master vocabulary, as well as provides practical activities to use in your classroom.
